The designs and storyboard frames were inspired by old tarot cards, as well as my love for tryptics.
I thought it gave the story a great vehicle since there were always three entities
that needed to be in communication with one another, the seller, buyer and middleman.
Also there was the added conceptual undercurrent of fortune-telling the future
of these financial institutions when blockchains become more ubiquitous.
The TED projects are all really interesting, because they cover very different ideas for each project. The challenge for this piece was to explain blockchains to an audience primarily of financial institutions, and how blockchains might impact them in the future. The challenge for me, was to try to understand what blockchains actually are. I gotta be honest, I still don't fully get it.
I drew these designs but the person who really breathed life into these drawings and gave it such vibrancy was Kriti Kaur, a fellow animator at Humble TV.
She did such a great job with these color studies, as well as doing large sections of animations!
Really proud of how this came together in the end. The animations were great and created something that both us and the client were happy about.
Below are the frames I drew for this project which were ultimately rejected.
We revisited these styles for our Humble TV's holiday card.
